Irish Museum of Modern Art

The Irish Museum of Modern Art was established in 1990 in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, the finest 17th-century building in Ireland as Ireland’s first national institution for the collection of Ireland's Modern and contemporary art. The Museum presents a wide variety of art in a dynamic programme of exhibitions working with artists nationally and internationally.

IMMA has over 3,500 artworks by Irish artists and artists from all over the world. The collection is deep-rooted in the present and new and important works are continuously added to the collection each year.

The exhibitions change regularly and usually last three to four months and up to four shows can be viewed at any one time. Past exhibitions include of James Coleman, Terry Winters, Elizabeth Peyton, Alan Phelan and more. The exhibitions shown range from painting and sculpture to installation, photography video and performance.

Admission Fees:

free of charge expect for occasional special exhibitions

Opening Hours:

Tuesday to Friday 11.30am to 5.30pm
Saturday 10am to 5.30pm
Sunday and Bank Holidays 12pm to 5.30pm
