Howth Village

Howth Village is a beautiful fishing town with stunning views of the sea, harbour and coastline. There are plenty of things to do and see to keep you busy for the entire day.
Fishing really is the most prevalent theme here, from watching the trawlers slip in and out of the harbour, sampling the fresh catch of the day in one of the many top class restaurants to trying a spot of angling yourself at the shoreline. 

With 4 mapped walking routes you will find something to suit every fitness level.
For a more relaxed approach, saunter down the pier, lapping up the gorgeous views of the Harbour and out to Ireland's Eye. Then take a leisurely stroll down the sandy beaches enjoying lovely views of Dublin Bay. 
For the more adventurous, why not take in the cliff walk which leads you right up to the summit of Howth Head. Here you will be rewarded with some of the most breathtaking views in either direction.

Less than 15 minutes walk from the train station is Howth Castle and Grounds. Here you can enjoy learning about the history of its fully restored Georgian kitchens and discover the surrounding gardens with its ten metre high hedge and the ruins of St Mary's Abbey.

Howth Market is another delight to draw you in, conveniently located just minutes from the pier. It is home to many stalls selling handmade crafts, vintage antiques, jewellery, homegrown/homemade Irish food and drinks and various souvenirs.

The beaches are a great place to spend time with the family. Whether it's walking along the shore, having a picnic, catching a few rays, playing ball with the kids or on warm days, paddling your feet in the shallows.

You can't go to Howth without sampling the fish! There are some very fine restaurants to choose from where you can wine and dine in style. Likewise there are some fantastic gastropubs to get a hearty meal after a long hike. Or why not just enjoy the classic, a good oul fish and chips out of a paper bag while sitting on the pier….just beware of the seagulls! 

Overall it really is a beautiful place to spend a very enjoyable day.
